Tell us about yourself. (Name, grade, school, Italian heritage, a few things you do)
My name is Chase Elias, I will be a senior at Bloomfield High School this upcoming year. I am a Varsity Cheerleader, co-president of the BHS Glamour Gals, a Bengal Paws member and in the past coached Jr. Bengals cheerleading. My Italian heritage comes from both my maternal and fraternal grandparents.
How long have you been an intern and what have you done with UNICO so far?
I’ve been interning since my junior year of high school and have fallen in love with UNICO, we practice service above self on so many different levels. I’ve attended most if not all meetings and events giving my all to help with taking many notes and pictures. I am also involved with the other interns working on the redesign of our chapter’s website with other chapter members.
Why did you decide to apply for an internship?
I applied for this internship because a close friend of mine Anna Haraka was an intern and she constantly talked about how much she enjoyed it. She later told me they were taking applications for new interns so I jumped-on the amazing opportunity.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation I plan to attend college to obtain a degree in either Accounting or Finance. Although undecided at this time, I have a few ideas as to where I would like to continue my educational journey.
How has being an intern at UNICO put your goals in reach?
UNICO has truly helped put my goals in reach by giving me so many real-life experiences and opportunities to improve my communication skills. Without UNICO I would still be a little on the shy side. I now have the confidence to engage in conversations and offer my suggestions and ideas.
How will you continue to stay active within UNICO and the Bloomfield community?
I look forward to my senior year as an intern because I’ve realized this past year has been a life changing experience for me. When eligible, I will join the chapter as a Youth Member. I am so thankful to the Bloomfield Chapter of UNICO and how it has helped to shape me into who I am today.
