Tell us about yourself. (Name, grade, school, Italian heritage, a few things you do)
My name is Anna Haraka, a senior at Bloomfield High School. I’m honored to be the first ever UNICO Intern. My grandparents, Frank and Judy LoMonte are both members of Bloomfield UNICO. I am a Varsity Cheerleading captain, a member of the Peer Leadership program, and Chief of Staff of the Student Government Association. Proud founder of Bloomfield High School’s club the “Glamour Gals”, where volunteers provide companionship, beauty makeovers and manicures to the residents of Job Haines Nursing Home.
How long have you been an intern and what have you done with UNICO so far?
I’ve been an Intern since my junior year of high school. As the first intern, I created our first ever Bloomfield UNICO Instagram, worked very closely with Tina, the chapter secretary, to organize events, and have recruited and directed new interns to the program.
Why did you decide to apply for an internship?
My grandparents always spoke very highly about the work they do with UNICO and my counselor recommended the new program to me so I was excited to get involved.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I will be attending Cornell University with a major in Applied Economics and Management. I am undecided on my career path but interested in entering the business world in possible fields of consulting, marketing, or finance.
How has being an intern at UNICO put your goals in reach?
My favorite part of being an intern is the professional experience that I have gained while working with UNICO. I have learned how to take minutes at meetings, organize events, and create social media platforms.
How will you continue to stay active within UNICO and the Bloomfield community?
I am looking forward to giving back to UNICO in the future after everything that UNICO has done for me. I plan to return to UNICO as a Youth Member and would love to provide mentorship for interns in the years to come.
