Intern Spotlight: Nickolina Nasce

Intern Spotlight: Nickolina Nasce

Tell us about yourself (name, education, work experience, hobbies, etc.)

My name is Nickolina Nasce and I’m currently a Junior at Bloomfield High School. I volunteer my time and donate at any chance I am able to. I love the idea that something I want to get rid of becomes an item of value to someone else. Two clubs in school that I’m a part of are Glamour Gals and the Italian club. In GG, we visit seniors at Job Haines Home in Bloomfield and spend time with them. In the Italian club, that I serve as Co-President of, we come together to fundraise and donate around town. This year is also my first year being a Peer Leader so I get to be part of the freshmens first experience in High School.
My Italian heritage is something I value. My family comes from Naples, Calabria, and Sicily.

How long have you been an intern and what have you done with UNICO so far?

Being that I’m a Junior, this is my first year interning with UNICO. I have only been an intern for a couple of months but we’ve done so much! My Italian club collected unwrapped toys that I brought to UNICO to be donated along with all the other toys that they received.

Why did you decide to apply for an internship?

I decided to apply for the UNICO internship because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. My Italian teacher and family encouraged me a lot to take the offer. Another factor for me was my Italian
descent

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation I plan to attend college. I’m still undecided as to where and what career path I am going to take.

How has being an intern at UNICO put your goals in reach?

Being an intern at UNICO has put my goals into reach because I attend meetings and take notes. My role is helping me learn various skills I will need in the future. Some of those skills are leadership, communication, and building my work ethic.

How will you continue to stay active within UNICO and the Bloomfield community?

I will continue to stay active within UNICO and the Bloomfield community by becoming a Youth Member. I will also continue to volunteer and donate when given the opportunity. I plan to encourage others to do the same! I enjoy being able to become more in touch with my Italian roots.
